Week One Report:

The Thunder Soccer men’s squad started their season with a victory over the Colts, with goals coming from Maher Husseini and Marco Natoli. They also kept the Colts off the scoreboard, with Thomas Hatch shutting the door repeatedly. The final score was 2-0.

Day two for the men’s squad finished similarly to day one, with Algonquin scoring two goals, one each by Marco Natoli and Jemuel Paul. Dylan Tessier was in goal for the Thunder and played very well, only allowing a single shot past him and helping the home side to a 2-1 victory!

Week Two Report:

The men’s side of Thunder Soccer also took on the Golden Shield this past weekend, and their game finished with an identical 4-0 score in favour of Algonquin. Kris Holford-Walker earned the shutout for the Thunder and the goal scorers included Marco Natoli (1) and Trevor Turner (3) who was named OCAA Athlete of the Week for Men’s Soccer! Great job, Trevor! The men’s team also find themselves sitting at #3 in the CCAA National rankings.

Week Three Report:

The men’s team also travelled to Toronto to take on the Colts on Saturday. They took it to Centennial, scoring six and only letting in one, securing the victory for Algonquin and maintaining their perfect record. Goal scorers for the Thunder include Anthony Legendre (2), Jem Paul (1), Marco Natoli (2), and Andres Sanchez (1). Like the women’s team, they are currently ranked #3 in Canada! Boxscore

Week Four Report:

The men’s team played the Fleming Knights and the SLC Vikings over the past week, winning both matches en route to remaining undefeated in 2016. The match against Fleming was tight all the way and wasn’t decided until near the end of extra time when Marco Natoli connected on a free kick to put the Thunder up 2-1! The other goal scorer for Algonquin was Anthony Legendre. Boxscore

The men’s team travelled to Kingston to face the Vikings on Wednesday evening and they brought home another victory, downing SLC 3-0. (Boxscore not yet available.)
