Week One Report:

Thunder Soccer hosted the Centennial Colts on Saturday, and the women’s team came out firing from the very start and were relentless in their attack, scoring an even dozen goals against the shell-shocked Colts. Even better, the Thunder goalkeeper, Karleigh Bell, held the Colts off the scoreboard entirely, defeating Centennial by a final of 12-0! Goal scorers for the Thunder include Sylvie Avedessian, Breanna Humphreys (2), Andrianna Dmulchalsky (2), Vanessa Macmillan (3), Georgia Iliopoulos, Darby Perry (2), and Bailey Gassler (1).

The second game for the women’s team, on Sunday, ended just as the first did, though not with a dozen goals. The final score was 3-0 for Algonquin, Jenna King earning the shutout for the home side. Goal scorers for the Thunder were Breanna Humphreys, Vanessa Macmillan, and Sylvie Avedessian.

Week Two Report:

Thunder Soccer travelled to Sudbury this past weekend to face the Cambrian Golden Shield. The women battled their way to a 4-0 shutout, with goalkeeper Jenna King shutting the door on Cambrian every time they came at her. Goal scorers for the Thunder included Melissa Harrison (1), Vanessa MacMillan (2), and rookie Andrianna Dmulchalsky (1). Following that win, the Thunder find themselves ranked #3 in the county by the CCAA!

Week Three Report:

Thunder Women’s Soccer played two games this past weekend; one against Loyalist on Friday and one against Fleming on Saturday. They Thunder were victorious in both. Friday’s game was a rout and they matched their top offensive output of the season, scoring 12 times on the Lancers. Goal Scorers in that one were Vanessa MacMillan (2), Hailey Martin (1), Melissa Harrison (2), Breanna Humphreys (1), Michelle Wilson (1), Darby Perry (1), Bailey Gassler (2), Andrianna Dmulchalsky (1), and Melissa Baynes (1). Jenna King was in goal for the Thunder and she once again kept the Lancers off the scoreboard. Boxscore

The team travelled from Belleville to Toronto on Saturday to face the Centennial Colts and they finished with a similar outcome. They scored six goals in this one (Vanessa MacMillan (1), Melissa Harrison (3), Michelle Wilson (2)) and once again held their opponent off the scoreboard, with Jenna King earning another shutout. The team is currently tied for most goals scored in the OCAA with 37 and they have not been scored on yet! Their unblemished record currently has them ranked #3 in the nation by the CCAA and they were recognized by the OCAA as the Team of the Week! Boxscore

Week Four Report:

The women’s team played three games in six days this past week, securing victories in all three.   They hosted the Loyalist Lancers in their first match, blanking the Lancers 4-0 with goals scored by Vanessa MacMillan, Melissa Harrison, Darby Perry, and Bailey Gassler. They were offensively-dominant, but strong on the defensive side as well, holding Loyalist to a single shot through 90 minutes! Jenna King earned the shutout for the Thunder. Boxscore

In their second game of the weekend, on Saturday, the women faced the Fleming Knights. The Thunder doubled their offensive-output from the night before, winning 8-0, with goals by Breanna Humphreys, Melissa Harrison, Jenna Baldree, Vanessa MacMillan (3), Haleigh Robertson, and Melissa Baynes. Karleigh Bell receives credit for the shutout. Boxscore

The team travelled to Kingston for a rare midweek match against the SLC Vikings on Wednesday, the 5th. Though they trailed 1-0 at the half, they women turned it on in the second half, scoring three times to secure the win and maintain their perfect record. (Boxscore not yet available.)

Next Game: The Thunder host the Cambrian Golden Shield on Saturday, October 8th (kickoff at 1 PM), before heading out on the road for a pair of games in Oshawa and Peterborough against Durham and Fleming on the 14th and 15th. Both the women’s and men’s games against Cambrian are scheduled to be streamed on TV Broadcasting’s Livestream.com page.
